Es también el primer whisky de grano de Suntory y un single grain de alta calidad, elaborado con tres tipos de granos distintos y envejecido en barricas de bourbon americano y de vino español que incrementan su complejidad. Suntory es una cervecería y destilería japonesa. Fundada en 1899. Suntory empezó como una tienda de venta de vinos importados. En 1924 primera destilería de Japón -Destilería Yamazaki- comienza a producir whisky de malta. Cinco años después se vende por primera vez en Japón el whiskey Suntory Whiskey Shirofuda (White Label), siendo el primer whisky de producción nacional japonesa. En 1963 la empresa cambia el nombre a Suntory. Suntory Whisky encarna la armonía que existe entre la naturaleza japonesa y el pueblo japonés. Suntory Whisky es la fusión de las fuerzas delicadas del japonés la propia naturaleza, combinado con la pasión y la precisión de los mejores artesanos japoneses. Suntory se ha convertido en uno de los mayores grupos de bebidas de Japón, posee dos destilerías propias bajo los nombres de Hakushu y Yamazaki.
Historia.
El fundador de Kotobukiya (actualmente Suntory) Shinjiro Torii (1879-1962), abrió su primera tienda Torii Shoten con 20 años. Quería crear destilados japoneses originales que el mundo entero pudiera disfrutar y que estuvieran directamente asociados a la naturaleza y cultura de Japón. De todos los destilados, fue el whisky el más conocido. Comenzó la construcción de su primera destilería de whisky en las afueras de Tokyo en el año 1923. El distrito elegido fue Yamazaki, conocido ahora como el lugar del origen del whisky de Suntory, pero también por la extraordinaria calidad de sus aguas. En 1936 lanza su primera ginebra, a la que denominó "Hermes Gin". Desde ese momento no han dejado de elaborar una ginebra que hasta hace muy poco solo se consumía localmente. En 1973 construye su segunda destilería en Hakushu, al pie de los Alpes sureños de Japón. Suntory perfeccionó la técnica en estas dos localizaciones ideales para desarrollar una destilería de primera clase y entregar al mercado tres productos: sus whiskys de malta Yamakazi y Hakushu y su blend Hibiki.
