Donnafugata fue fundada en Sicilia por una familia emprendedora con 160 años de experiencia en vinos de alta gama. Giacomo Rallo y esposa Gabriella, hija e hijo José Antonio están comprometidos en un proyecto empresarial con un enfoque en la atención al detalle y la gente de sincronización y la naturaleza para hacer vinos que corresponden cada vez más por el potencial de esta zona. Terre Siciliane es el título IGT regional para Sicilia y sus islas satélite, incluidas las Islas Aelian. Esta denominación geográfica se formó en noviembre de 2011 se extiende sobre un área de 35,389 ha con una producción que supera los 1,263,300 hl.
