Henri Louis Pernod fundó la primera destilería francesa de absenta en Pontarlier en el año 1805. Desde ese momento la historia de la marca se extiende durante más de dos siglos. Desde los tiempos de la primera destilería Maison Pernod Fils, la absenta fue el estandarte. Cuando se prohibió la venta y consumo de ésta en Francia, la empresa tuvo que cerrar por un tiempo. En 1926 Pernod volvió a la vida con un licor anisado de 40ºC que sustituyó a la absenta y que se sigue produciendo en la actualidad en el edificio Caves Byrrh en las inmediaciones de Perpiñán. Este es el clásico anís de Francia que se bebe mezclado con agua. Pernod Ricard es una empresa francesa especializada en vinos y bebidas espirituosas cuyo objetivo es ofrecer "el producto adecuado, en el momento adecuado y para el consumidor adecuado". Su amplio portafolio contiene todos los productos icónicos que usted esperaría tener en su vitrina de licores, además de algunas otras grandes marcas en las que tal vez no hubiera pensado. Historia.
La historia de Pernod comienza en 1805 con la fundación de la Maison Pernod Fils en Pontarile, en la frontera franco-suiza, por Henri-Louis Pernod. Esta destilería producía y vendía absenta de Pernod Fils, una bebida espirituosa con sabor a anís. Ricard fue fundada en Marsella en 1932 por Paul Ricard. Aunque Ricard es ahora una filial de Pernod Ricard, el licor Ricard sigue siendo el licor anisado más vendido en el mundo. En 1975, las dos empresas de espirituosos de anís se fusionaron para crear Pernod Ricard. Rápidamente comenzó a diversificar su oferta y a crear filiales en otros países. Actualmente es considerado el segundo mayor vendedor de vinos y bebidas espirituosas del mundo.
