Josep María Raventos i Blanc ha dejado una huella imborrable en el mundo del vino catalán. No sólo fue uno de los grandes responsables del ascenso imparable de Codorníu salió de la empresa en 1982-, también ha sido alcalde de Sant Sadurní d'Anoia y presidente del CRDO Cava. En marzo de 1986, apenas una semana después de fundar la bodega que lleva su nombre, un infarto terminó con la vida de Josep María durante un viaje a Nueva Zelanda. La finca donde se asienta la bodega tiene una extensión de 90 hectáreas y pertenece a la familia desde hace más de cinco siglos. Las instalaciones, diseñadas por los arquitectos Jaume Bach y Gabriel Mora, fueron premio FAD de arquitectura en 1989. En menos de 30 años, Raventós i Blanc se ha convertido en una de las bodegas elaboradoras de cava y vinos tranquilos, con D.O. Penedès, con más peso de todo el panorama nacional.
Equilibrio.
La filosofía de Raventós i Blanc es respetar al máximo el equilibrio de la finca. El río Anoia, el turó del Serral, el lago de Raventós i Blanc y los bosques de la finca han forjado unos rasgos edafológicos y unas condiciones climatológicas únicos. Unos elementos que se enmarcan en las particularidades de lo que denominan la Conca del riu Anoia, una denominación evocadora de un pedazo de mundo pequeño y concreto –unas 7.000 hectáreas entre las montañas de Montserrat y las cordilleras Litoral y Prelitoral–, donde nacen todos sus vinos. La Finca está dividida en parcelas, hasta un total de 44, cada una con una identidad propia. Parcelas trabajadas con un mimo exquisito por parte de la generación actual de los Raventós. Manuel y Pepe Raventós, hijo y nieto de Josep Maria Raventós, son los encargados de hacer realidad el sueño del abuelo: convertir esta bodega en una marca viticultora de prestigio internacional. Los dos enólogos han situado Raventós i Blanc entre los mejores vinos espumosos del mundo, fieles a una finca especial, un clima concreto y a un método que persigue la excelencia con la mínima intervención del hombre.
Una vida ligada al cava.
Dinámico, enérgico y amante del mundo del vino y la viticultura, Pepe Raventós se incorpora a Raventós i Blanc en el año 2001, pero su vinculación con el mundo del cava se remonta a cuando era pequeño y pasaba los veranos vendimiando en Sant Sadurní, donde han vivido veintiún generaciones de su família, desde finales del siglo XV. Su vida ha estado marcada por los trabajos sociales, pero sobre todo por el vino. Desde muy joven compartió horas de trabajo en el campo en Saint Emilion, aprendiendo a elaborar tintos. Adquirió experiencia en la elaboración de vinos trabajando con Didier Dagueneau en Pouilly-Fumé AOC, Loira; Nicolas Chiquet en Dizy, Champaña, y Jean Patrick Merignac en Saint Philippe d’Aiguilhe, Burdeos. En el año 2012 decide que Raventós i Blanc abandone la DO Cava. Es el inicio de una nueva etapa bajo la Conca del Riu Anoia, el sueño de crear una nueva denominación de origen.
