Rafa Bernabé es un hombre comprometido con su tierra, que ama y respeta la naturaleza, y que trabaja con honestidad y dedicación tanto para recuperar el patrimonio vitivinícola de la zona de Alicante como para ofrecernos vinos que sean un fiel reflejo de toda esa cultura vitivinícola que parece hoy olvidada en tantos puntos de la costa mediterránea. Parece casi un sueño poder contemplar esos viñedos, libres de la invasión urbanística, donde variedades locales como la monastrell, la merseguera o la rojal, entre otras, perfectamente adaptadas a unos suelos pobres en materia orgánica y acariciadas por la brisa marina, ofrecen unos vinos deliciosos, frescos, aromáticos y auténticos. empezó a ser conocido especialmente tras el éxito obtenido con su vino Beryna, un vino de corte mediterráneo y perfil moderno, muy bien valorado por la crítica internacional y los consumidores. Hoy, Rafa es conocido también por la honestidad de su trabajo y por la recuperación que lleva a cabo de variedades autóctonas y de tradicionales como la vinificación en tinajas, tan de moda hoy y de la cual su bodega es pionera. Son pequeñas producciones, vinos singulares, fáciles de beber, vinos para disfrutar mucho.
Elaboraciones distintas.
Villena es un término municipal muy grande en el que encontramos parajes con sutiles diferencias entre ellos. Desde la ciudad y cogiendo dirección norte, podemos acercarnos al “Cascante” o la carretera de Cañada. Allí se encuentra la Finca Balaguer, con su casa de principios del XX, que cultiva desde hace más de 20 años Rafael Bernabé Navarro. El emplazamiento es magnífico y las viñas de monastrell o garnacha, a unos 700 metros de altitud, se sitúan en un curioso corredor de aire que las mantiene frescas en verano y a salvo de heladas en invierno. Además, Bernabé Navarro ha localizado y trabajado en parajes específicos de su entorno y con variedades antiguas o minoritarias. Con ellas ha elaborado vinos muy especiales. Su inicio con “Beryna” y “Casa Balaguer” supusieron un revulsivo en su zona realizando vinos frutales, delicados, de larga estructura y frescos a la vez, con un delicioso toque mineral. Y después ha emprendido una carrera hacia vinos nada habituales donde siempre está uniendo algo tradicional con una elaboración diferente; pero sin duda, vinos que nos hablan del pasado o de su territorio, de una forma clara y directa. Su trabajo se ha basado en la biodinámica y en los vinos naturales. Reflejo de ello ha sido la “Colección Elementos” que, por rara y diversa, es una auténtica reliquia o un santa santorum para los aficionados al vino. Cada uno de sus vinos representa una virtud de elementos como “Agua”, “Tierra”, “Metal”,….
La buena vinificación premiada.
En esa línea experimental ha vinificado en tinajas, ha utilizado viejos toneles para “Ramblis”, ha realizado espumosos de forma natural, “Tippzi” y todos ellos con la personalidad y estilo del propio bodeguero. Todos los vinos han tenido las más altas puntuaciones en todas las guías especializadas entre las cuales hay que destacar los puntos Parker: 93 puntos para “Beryna 2013” y “Flor de la Mata 2013” y otras puntuaciones sobresalientes para otros de sus vinos. Además, hay que destacar su trabajo de defensa de la producción en el Parque Natural de la Mata. Con todo este trabajo, Rafael Bernabé Navarro nos ha traído unos vinos absolutamente diferentes cuyo motivo de rebeldía no es otro que el demostrarnos lo esencial de la naturaleza desde la cepa a la botella. “Sus vinos que nos hablan del pasado o de su territorio, de una forma clara y directa”.
