La compañía fue Anís del Mono, fundada en 1868 por los hermanos José y Vicente Bosch en Badalona. Inusual es la etiqueta de la botella, a su historia, hay tradiciones diferentes. Esta etiqueta de la botella muestra un hombre-mono, que tiene los rasgos faciales de un hombre, pero tiene un cuerpo completamente peludo y una cola de mono - y, respectivamente, en su pata derecha. Mano sostiene un pergamino escrito en las gradas: "Él es el mejor, la ciencia dice eso, y yo no miento", y sosteniendo en su mano izquierda una botella. Una historia legislativa prevé que este diseño fue elegido por la familia Bosch que tenia un mono como mascota, que también estaba en la fábrica de licores, otra tradición, quería que el Bosch hermanos caricatura popular en que los puntos de vista de tiempo de Charles Darwin provocadoras después de la evolución del hombre desciende del mono, o la creencia en la ciencia como un todo debe ser caricaturizado por la etiqueta.
El origen.
La historia de Anís del Mono comienza a finales del siglo XIX y está construida de anécdotas y de inspiraciones llegadas de distintas partes del mundo. La primera de ellas es el origen de su nombre: Vicente Bosch, el creador de Anís del Mono, recibió en una ocasión como regalo de negocios un simpático monito proveniente de América, el cual acabó bautizando a la marca. La historia que inspiró al diseño de la botella fue bastante más romántica. El propio Bosch andaba buscando un regalo especial para su mujer y fue en la plaza Vendôme de París donde encontró el perfume perfecto y, en él, la inspiración para su botella de corte adiamantado que se ha convertido en estándar de la categoría. La etiqueta de la botella también encierra algunas curiosidades que hacen de ella todo un símbolo de identidad, como el error ortográfico de destillación y que todavía hoy se mantiene. Pero quizás lo más significativo sea el rostro del propio mono: sus rasgos humanoides están basados ¡en el mismísimo Charles Darwin! Sin duda un guiño al debate de aquella época sobre la teoría de la evolución.
Hogar dulce hogar.
La Fábrica de Anís de Mono en Badalona es una joya modernista que se ha conservado por su valor artístico y patrimonial. Desde la sala de destilación donde se elabora artesanalmente el anís, hasta el archivo conservan todo el sabor de una época. El 7 de julio de 2012 se inauguró en el paseo marítimo de Badalona, una estatua en honor de Anís del Mono: un mono de 200 kilos y esculpido en bronce. La vena artística de Vicente Bosch no se quedó ahí: en 1897 convocó el primer concurso de carteles de España, que ganó Ramón Casas, en 1913 logró que Anís del Mono tuviera el primer cartel luminoso de la Puerta del Sol, y en los años posteriores, contempló con orgullo cómo artistas de la talla de Juan Gris o Picasso se inspiraban en su marca para hacer algunas de sus obras. Décadas después su popularidad llegó ¡a la gran pantalla!: Tuvo su estelar aparición en famosas películas como Donnie Brasco, compartiendo pantalla con Johnny Depp, y, años más tarde, en la galardonada con el premio Goya: " No habrá paz para los malvados".
Dando la nota.
La de Anís del Mono es sin duda la botella más sonada de la historia. Su cristal adiamantado hacía un ruido tan curioso, que con él nació una de nuestras tradiciones navideñas más conocidas: Rascar la Botella de Anís. Durante más de un siglo, abuelos, padres, madres, hijos y nietos la utilizaron ¡como instrumento musical!. En 2012, este mítico instrumento navideño rejuveneció: nació así Monomusic, una aplicación para Smartphone que ha recuperado la tradición de rascar la botella de anís pero ahora también en el móvil.
