Puglia IGT es una denominación regional para la región de Puglia en el sur de Italia. Desde su introducción en noviembre de 1995, se ha convertido en una de las 120 IGT, (Indicazione Geografica Tipica), más ampliamente utilizada de Italia, y por lo tanto, una de las denominaciones de vino más importantes del país. Se enumeraron más de 50 variedades de uva cuando las leyes de producción se actualizaron en 2013, creando una división uniforme entre las variedades rojas y blancas. Es probable que este número aumente gradualmente en los próximos años, a medida que los enólogos de la región continúen buscando y utilizando nuevas variedades. La extensión de esta lista refleja claramente la creciente preferencia por la elaboración de vinos por variedades en el sur de Italia, en sí misma un reflejo de esta tendencia en las tendencias mundiales de consumo. Puglia IGT.
La categoría IGT se introdujo en la década de 1990 como una forma de equilibrar las clasificaciones de vinos italianos. Desde el principio, los productores de vino de Apulia acogieron calurosamente la categoría IGT, y la región es ahora una de las principales fuentes de vino de nivel IGT en Italia. Puglia y el Languedoc en el sur de Francia tienen mucho en común: ambas son las regiones más meridionales, más cálidas y más pobres de sus respectivas naciones.
