Al año siguiente de establecerse en la isla fundó Barceló&Co. con la intención de fabricar el mejor ron de la isla. En la actualidad, la tercera generación de la familia Barceló sigue dirigiendo Barceló&Co. Este Barceló Imperial, de color ámbar rojizo y brillante, en nariz nos aparece aromático y fragante, ligeramente acaramelado y frutal. Profundo aroma a roble. Envejecido en barrica de roble americano que anteriormente había contenido bourbon, su sabor es añejo, ligeramente dulce, con retrogusto a roble por su envejecimiento en barrica.

Tras el sueño de elaborar el mejor ron del mundo, en 1929 Julián Barceló, un joven español nacido en Mallorca, de 25 años, llega a Santo Domingo fundando Barceló & Co. El mismo pronto inicia la producción de sus primeros rones y los promociona por todo el país. La marca Barceló no tardó en convertirse en una referencia fundamental entre los rones locales, y su crecimiento creó de las más grandes y prestigiosas empresas dominicanas. En la década de los 80, el Ron Barceló encabezaba la lista de los rones nacionales preferidos y la empresa comprendió que su destino también se encontraba en saltar las fronteras del Caribe y de América, y se emprendió en 1992 el proceso de internacionalización con resultados muy satisfactorios. En 1994 ya era exportado a más de 10 países siendo su principal el mercado español. En 1950, tras años de experimentación con el lanzamiento de distintas marcas en el mercado local, la compañía logra alcanzar el más alto nivel en términos de producto: Se lanza la marca Ron Barceló con sus productos Barceló Blanco y Dorado, que de inmediato tienen una gran acogida. Alrededor de 20 años más tarde, la compañía incorpora al portfolio Ron Barceló Añejo. En 1974 Don Julián Barceló deja el legado del negocio a su sobrino Miguel Barceló. 6 años más tarde, en 1980, nace Ron Barceló Imperial: el ron Premium insignia de los dominicanos. Un ron que desde su lanzamiento se convierte en líder de su segmento, siendo a día de hoy el ron dominicano más galardonado por organismos internacionales. En los años 90, Barceló & Co., buscando la expansión de su marca, otorga a unos empresarios españoles, que tenían amplia experiencia en la producción de vinos y bebidas espirituosas, el derecho para exportar Ron Barceló. Se funda entonces la compañía Ron Barceló SRL. En 2006, tras haber conseguido estar presente en 25 mercados internacionales, Ron Barceló SRL adquiere por completo la marca Ron Barceló, manteniéndose en el consejo directivo parte de la tercera generación de los Barceló, la familia Barceló Díaz y la familia García. En ese mismo año la compañía, apuntando al futuro, inicia los rediseños de botellas de Ron Barceló Imperial, Gran Añejo y Añejo. Da comienzo así una nueva etapa en la que la marca, ya consolidada, trabaja sin descanso por seguir ofreciendo a los consumidores nuevas formas de disfrutar del mejor ron dominicano.
