Vallformosa es una bodega de propiedad 100% familiar gestionada por la quinta generación de la Familia Domènech, cuyo origen se sitúa en 1865 en Vilobí del Penedés. Actualmente, cuenta con varias bodegas propias de vinos y cavas bajo cuatro Denominaciones de Origen españolas: Penedès, Cava, Cataluña y Rioja, además de contar con vinos de Argentina. Conservamos un nombre con encanto, tomado de la antigua ermita Románica de Santa María de Vallformosa, situada al lado de las bodegas. Su significado: valle hermoso, ha marcado la tradición de estas viñas. La belleza habita en nuestros viñedos donde aún hoy se siguen plantando rosales. Las tierras del valle no sólo son afortunadas por su atractivo, también son privilegiadas por su tipo de suelo y clima. En Vallformosa la belleza se ha convertido en una filosofía de trabajo: creemos que quien ama lo que hace lo encuentra hermoso. El amor por nuestra tierra, la pasión y la firme confianza de generaciones anteriores nos han permitido superar la historia. Hace un siglo, Vallformosa lideró la recuperación de las viñas después de la enfermedad de la filoxera plantando vides no contaminadas. Como reconocimiento su Majestad el Rey Alfonso XIII visitó Vallformosa en 1904. Ahora, Vallformosa se extiende por todo el Penedés, adquiriendo nuevas tierras de cultivo para mejorar la calidad de sus vinos y cavas. Nuestra tierra tiene memoria. Ha quedado marcada por la historia a lo largo de los siglos. Guarda buenos recuerdos enterrados.
Historia de una gran marca.
-Desde el 1865 la familia Domènech ha trabajado con pasión las tierras del Penedés para obtener el mejor fruto de los viñedos. Francisco José Domènech (1839-1909) fue el impulsor de la tradición vitivinícola en la familia y el primero en buscar la perfección en las cosas bien hecha.
- 1887: La enfermedad de la filoxera arrasa la totalidad del viñedo del Penedès. La bodega de José Domènech Soler (1864-1958) es una de las pioneras en la replantación de vides no contaminadas. La bodega obtuvo un prestigio enorme en la región que le valió el reconocimiento del Rey Alfonso XIII que incluso llegó a visiar la bodega en 1904. El 1905, recuperado el viñedo de la zona, José Domènech Torné (1896-1957) adquiere la totalidad de los viñedos de la Masia denominados "La Sala".
-1938: La masía "La Sala" fue ocupada durante la Guerra Civil Española siendo destruida parcialmente a finales de ésta. Después de recuperar la masía, José Domènech Torné elaboró las primeras botellas de Cava Vallformosa.
-1974: La familia Domènech.Vidal adquiere nuevos viñedos para satisfacer las demandas del mercado. Una de estas fincas es Masia Freyé, un lugar de retiro y fuente de inspiración para la familia Domènech.Vidal.
-1993: Ampliación de una nueva planta de vinificación. Ampliación de las instalaciones de "La Sala" con tres nuevas líneas de embotellado.
-2014: Con nuestra pasión, visión y tradición de más de 140 años de experiencia, hemos creado nuestros vinos y cavas. Una expresión íntima de nuestra personalidad, que hace honor a cinco generaciones de viticultores.
