La región.

La tierra de la D.O.C.G. Roero, aún no siendo tan famosa como la Langhe, ofrece sorpresas inesperadas por su riqueza en historia, cultura y gastronomía. Aquí un visitante encontrará excelentes vinos, castillos encantadores y pueblos antiguos salpicando su geografía. Monta d'Alba, Vezza d'Alba, Guarene, Monteu Roero, Canale d'Alba, Pocapaglia, Govone. Geografía.

La Denominación de Origen Controlada y Garantizada Roero (D.O.C.G. Roero) se refiere a los vinos tipo Roero, Roero Riserva, Roero Arneis y Roero Arneis Spumante. El área de producción de esta D.O.C.G. incluye el total del territorio administrativo de los municipios de Canale, Corneliano d’Alba, Piobesi d’Alba, Vezza d’Alba, todos ellos pertenecientes a la provincia de Cuneo, y parte del territorio de los municipios de Baldissero d'Alba, Castagnito, Castellinaldo, Govone, Guarene, Magliano Alfieri, Montà, Montaldo Roero, Monteu Roero, Monticello d'Alba, Pocapaglia, Priocca, S. Vittoria d'Alba, S Stefano Roero y Sommariva Perno. Las uvas.

El roero debe obtenerse de uvas de las variedad nebbiolo con una proporción de, al menos, el 95% del total, y para completar puede contener el 5% de las uvas procedentes de cepas de uvas tintas, cultivadas en la región del Piamonte. Del mismo modo, los vinos Roero Arneis deben obtenerse de uvas de la variedad arneis en un 95% y el resto, hasta un 5%, de uva blanca no aromática de la región. El rendimiento máximo de las uvas en vino terminado no debe exceder el 70% para todos los tipos y tener una producción máxima de vino de 56 hl / ha para Roero y 70 hl / ha para Roero Arneis . Si, para los vinos Roero y Roero Arneis , este rendimiento excede el porcentaje indicado anteriormente, pero no más del 75%, el excedente no tiene derecho a la denominación de origen controlada y garantizada; más allá de estos límites porcentuales, caduca el derecho a una denominación de origen controlada y garantizada para todo el producto.

Los vinos.

Los vinos Roero y Roero Riserva deben pasar por un período de envejecimiento de 20 y 32 meses respectivamente, de los cuales 6 meses han de ser en barrica. El Roero se podrá comercializar a partir del 1 de julio del segundo año siguiente a la vendimia, y el Roero Riserva a partir del 1 de julio del tercer año. Los vinos Roero y Roero Riserva tienen una fase visual de color rojo rubí o granate, nariz afrutada, característica y con toques de madera, y una boca seca, armoniosa, con cuerpo y a veces algo tánico. Los Roero Arneis son de color amarillo pajizo, con nariz delicada, fresca y algún toque de madera y la boca es elegante, armoniosa y posiblemente tánico. Los espumosos tienen una burbuja fina y persistente, color amarillo pajizo de intensidad variable, una nariz delicada, afrutada, fresca, con recuerdos a levadura, corteza de pan y vainilla, danto una boca elegante y armoniosa.
